IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treats spots, wrinkles and unwanted hair
Get Brighter Looking Skin
As we age our skin ages too. We start to see unevenness in the form of brown spots caused by sun damage or hormonal changes, broken capillaries, splotchy skin, spider veins, and more. If you want to enhance your complexion, consider Lumenis® IPL.
Patients opt for IPL because they want better-looking skin and their expensive creams and serums are not doing the trick. Compared to other cosmetic treatments, IPL is desired due to the fact sessions are quick, non-invasive, with few temporary side effects, and recovery is fast.

How Does IPL Treatment Work?
IPL Photorejuvenation uses light therapy to minimize or remove the unwanted skin cells in the area you are treating. The IPL device releases multiple wavelengths of light that enables the treatment of a range of skin conditions at the same time. As a result, your body gets rid of unwanted pigment or hair follicles.
Used primarily on the face, back, back of hands, neck and chest, IPL can effectively and safely treat:
- Age Spots (Brown Spots)
- Dark Spots
- Discolored Skin
- Acne
- Redness
- Freckles
- Broken Blood Vessels
- Rosacea
- Scars
- Fine wrinkles

What is the Difference Between IPL and Laser?
The light from a laser sends only one focused wavelength of pulsating light while IPL sends many, targeting a broader area and making it possible to treat multiple skin conditions at once.
Both leverage a different technology working in similar ways. Contact us for a one-on-one consultation to determine which treatment is best for you.
Am I a Good Candidate?
IPL is best for those with lighter skin tones. If you have any of the above issues, a dull texture, or a combination on areas of your body, IPL may be an ideal solution.
How Do I Prepare for Treatment?
Prior to treatment, avoid sunbathing, tanning beds or creams. Do not wax or get a chemical peel before treatment. Stay away from creams or products containing vitamin A (RetinA) or glycolic acid for 2 weeks prior to IPL treatment.
What Should I Expect?
When you arrive at your appointment, we will examine the area you would like treated. The IPL handpiece and a cool gel are applied to the area. There may be a slight stinging sensation as if a small rubber band is snapping against the skin. You can expect the procedure to last 20-30 minutes depending on the area being treated.
After treatment, there will be mild redness and temporary darkening of freckles and brown spots. Feel free to apply a cool washcloth to calm down the area. You may use tinted sunscreen and moisturizing lotion immediately. Brown spots should peel off within a few weeks post-treatment.
For optimal results, you may need 3-6 treatments spaced about a month apart. To maintain your look, we recommend getting follow-up treatments 1-2x a year keeping brown spots, blood vessels, and fine lines from reappearing.
