Medical-grade microneedling at medAge uses controlled micro-channels to trigger the skin's natural healing response — stimulating new collagen and elastin production for meaningful, progressive improvement in skin quality. An accessible entry point into device-based aesthetic treatment.
Microneedling uses a device with fine needles to create thousands of tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin's surface. These micro-injuries trigger the skin's natural wound-healing cascade — stimulating new collagen and elastin production without damaging the surrounding tissue. The result is progressive skin quality improvement over time.
Medical-grade microneedling differs from at-home rollers in the precision of needle depth, the consistency of treatment pattern, and the clinical protocols surrounding the procedure. At medAge, microneedling is performed by trained clinicians under physician oversight — with appropriate numbing, aftercare, and adjunct serums applied at the time of treatment when appropriate.
Microneedling is one of the most versatile aesthetic treatments available — effective across a wide range of skin types and tones, and addressing a broad spectrum of skin quality concerns. It's particularly popular as a first device treatment for patients new to aesthetic medicine who want meaningful results with minimal risk and downtime.
Standard microneedling works at the surface and upper dermis. Morpheus8 — medAge's RF microneedling platform — adds radiofrequency energy that reaches up to 8mm deep into subdermal tissue, combining the collagen stimulation of microneedling with deep tissue remodeling and soft tissue contraction. For patients who want significantly more from their microneedling investment, Morpheus8 delivers results that standard microneedling cannot achieve.
Surface and upper dermis treatment. Excellent for texture, tone, pores, and mild scarring. Minimal downtime. A strong foundation.

Learn about Morpheus8 →A topical numbing cream is applied 30–45 minutes before treatment. Once numb, the treated area is cleansed and prepped. Any adjunct serums — such as PRP, hyaluronic acid, or growth factors — are applied at the time of needling to drive deeper absorption through the micro-channels.
The microneedling device is passed across the treatment area in multiple directions. The sensation is typically described as light vibration or mild pressure — most patients find it comfortable with adequate numbing. A single session takes 30–60 minutes depending on the area treated.
Redness similar to a moderate sunburn is normal for 24–48 hours. Some patients experience mild swelling and sensitivity. Most patients return to normal activities the following day. Sun protection is essential during the healing period.
Collagen production is gradual — most patients see progressive improvement over 4–6 weeks post-treatment. For optimal results, a series of 3–6 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended, followed by maintenance sessions 1–2 times per year.
